Home-Start Edinburgh West and South West is based in Gorgie and provides support to families across the West and South-West Neighbourhoods of Edinburgh.
Our Home-Start scheme was founded in 2000 and has 16 years experience of supporting families and volunteers in the local community.
We are a small, friendly team of four part-time staff consisting of a Senior Co-ordinator, Co-ordinator, Family Support Worker and Administrator. We are managed by a dedicated team of trustees who give their time to oversee the development and financial management of the team.
Many parents need help, friendship and support during those early years when children are young. Being a parent isn't always easy especially if you are also dealing with some of the pressures life can send your way like illness, stress or financial worries. We understand that raising a family can sometimes feel overwhelming and offer friendship and support to families with young children at home. Anyone with a child under 5 can contact us or ask another agency involved to complete a referral form. All help is free and confidential. For more information please see leaflets attached at bottom of page.

Our fantastic volunteers provide on-going support to families. Last year we supported 56 families with one-to-one support in their own homes. At Home-Start we understand that everybody needs a bit of help sometimes and our support is available to anyone with an under 5 in the Edinburgh West and South West Area who needs some support with the challenges of parenting. Every week we run PEEP groups for local parents to support parents to enhance their own children's learning and development. For more information on our PEEP and Fun to be One groups click here
Throughout the year we run focus weeks on issues that affect many of the families we work with. This focus weeks can include training, workshops, drop in sessions and one-to-one information and support. Some of our recent focus weeks have included child safety, book week and healthy eating.
